Hi there!
Usually, artists' introductions are written by the artists referring to themselves in the third person. We sit and stare at our computers for hours, trying to describe our work from a different person's point of view. Even though I engaged in this practice more than once, I still find it quite strange. Therefore, why not try something new? Consider this a short introductory letter.
I am a visual artist, specialising in conceptual photography projects that explore the human condition: from depicting invisible chronic illnesses to exploring secret desires. Most of my projects involve authentic confessions - volunteers who share their experiences either in person or anonymously. I am fascinated by using real-life experiences as a starting point for my work, as well as collaborating with non-professional people as models. It allows me to search for unique forms of beauty, question the boundary between reality and fiction, as well as strengthen the overall message of work in general.
My creative process resembles a staged photography practice - I become not only a photographer but also a director, stage, costume, and makeup designer - constructing all aspects of the image with the assistance of other specialists. For me, efficient creative concept implementation is highly important - I am an incurable perfectionist who also loves to improvise and experiment, as well as step out of the comfort zone as far as required. That is why working with me can be a rewarding but challenging experience.
My art projects frequently are accompanied by other forms of media: textual content, voice recordings, or shown in creative installations. I present my work by hosting immersive vernissages that allow the audience to delve deeper into ideas behind the photos with the help of storytelling, music, and unconventional creative choices.
Aside from personal art practice, I also cherish opportunities to collaborate on commercial projects with an artistic edge or capture cultural events. Actually, I started my photography journey by capturing events - being able to reveal raw emotions and the essence of spectacles through images is what made me fall in love with this medium.
At the moment, I live and work in Vilnius, Lithuania. I enjoy meeting new people, hearing their stories, and possibly collaborating on something beautiful.
